Meet Shurice
Shurice is a multi-talented showcase, not only does she sing lead and background vocals, she is also the chief songwriter and melodist of all her material. Born Carla “Shurice” White; Shurice began performing at the tender age of seven, along with her sibling sisters, “The White Sisters.” The seventh of nine children, Shurice was reared in Indianapolis, Indiana. She began her singing career at church functions and for special occasions.
After joining the choral ensemble in high school, Shurice discovered that her performing ability was exceptional, so much so that she was offered an audition at Fisk University to become a part of the history making choral ensemble group, “ The Fisk Jubilee Singers.”
Still young and indecisive as to what her true calling might be, Shurice found herself back in Indianapolis where she studied telecommunications at Indiana University. She later performed in local nightclubs and in live stage performances where she was highly emulated. Later she joined a local gospel group, “Pamela Davis and True Spirit,” which was featured on the Muscles Shoals recording label in Birmingham, Alabama. Here she became wholeheartedly interested in the music message and recognized the profound effect it had on its hearers. Shurice believes that her music expresses TRUTH, LOVE and LIFE.
Shurice is focused and now has a great sense of divine purpose and destiny.
In 1993 Shurice moved to Los Angeles and ventured solitarily to write her own material as well as collaborating with other musicians to target this special area. Some of her material has been featured as background music for cable commercials and radio network, as well as her speaking voice. She sang lead and back ground vocals on the exhilarating recording CD “Change Games,” under the direction of Freddie G “Boom Boom” Washington. Her goals are to become an accomplished recording artist, songwriter and publisher of her own material as well as write and record for other artists. She has appeared and performed with Marvin “Smitty” Smith, former drummer for “The Tonight Show,” Spontaneous Combustion, and The International Drums of Fire.
Shurice is focused and now has a great sense of divine purpose and destiny. She knows the direction to take in achieving success. Her single gospel release of “Warriors”, a church community favorite, has been performed all over the United States and has had radio time. Her inspirational, jazz release entitled, “The Things You Do,” which showcases rememberable performances of the title track, also My Funny Valentine, Found Love, What’s Happening, and A Dream Come True. The release features accomplished musicians such as David Garfield, Oscar Brashear, Freddie G. Washington, Mike Sims, Toi Russell, Gregory Cook, Jerry Williams, Richard White Jr. (no relation) and many others.

Her latest gospel release Abide in Me, Shurice finds herself writing all of the Spirit led lyrics and singing all lead vocals, while recording and living in the Tampa Bay Florida area. This amazing, prophetic, musical extravaganza was produced by Jesse Gay, assisted by his super talented musical family. His wife Vicki, and their daughter Aaron ministered background vocals, while their son David played bass guitar. Friend Paul “Antwon the Drummer,” Ransom also participated rendering his musical gift in this life changing experience. Her now deceased sister, Dr. Peachie Scarano accompanied her playing flute on the title track.
Shurice continues to adventure yet another musical chapter, her most recent classical meets gospel musical excursion. Her featured musician is classical violinist, Giordano A. Scarano, nephew; rendering a variety of classical flair with gospel soul vocals in an original collection titled, “The Sound of Heaven.”
While climbing the music ladder, Shurice attended the University of Phoenix, Southern California campus earning her B.S. degree in Business Management. She continued her education at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the California State University (CSU) Dominguez Hills campuses earning her teaching credential to teach adult learners. Shurice later furthered her education earning her Masters Degree in (IO) Industrial Organizational Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
There’s no stopping her now, it all comes from “the sound of heaven” that causes the “abiding in Him,” that creates the Warrior like spirit; it’s “the things you do” to achieve success.
